Range Graded Proportional Circle map
A range graded proportional circle map uses a specific number of specific-sized circles to show the data being measured. Unlike the continuously variable circle map, these maps have definite sized circles instead of using circles proportionally different circles. This particular map shows the amount of motor vehicle deaths in California using 5 different sized circles to represent the amount of deaths.

Continuously Variable Proportion Map
A continuously variable proportional circle map uses circles to create point data in proportion to the variables being measured. The above map is a continuously variable proportional circle map because it is using proportional circles to show population sizes of German ancestry living in Chicago, Illinois.

http://www.tceq.texas.gov/gis/metadata/drg_met.html
Isopleth Map
An isopleth map connects points that have the same value or ratio of geological or morphological features. This particular map shoes the number of deaths in California due to H1N1 virus. According to the legend, each contour line filled with a different color represents a differing number of deaths.

basically shows the movement of something from one location to another, like
the migration of people or animals. This particular map shows immigration to
the United States in 2007 by regions of birth.

An isoline map uses continuous lines to represent the same
amount or value. This particular map is of the amount of rainfall, in inches, New
York State has received in the past 25 years.
